Konstantin Medragon is an artist and author whose work grows out of two decades of travel and research across the ancient East. Since 2004 he has been studying the region — its cultures, its images, its ways of seeing — and over time, this immersion shaped his vision as a painter. What began as a search for understanding became a way of seeing.
His artistic path unfolded in three periods. The first (2013–2017) was shaped by the guidance of Vitaly Valge — the craft, the discipline, and the foundations of the visual language were learned during these years.
The middle period (2017–2022) was devoted to multi-layered painting and form. Works from this time include Dragon Island and Purple Bouquet — canvases where depth was built layer by layer, and where the surface began to carry meaning beyond the image itself.
The current period, after 2022, is textural. It is here that the series The Fifth Element · 五行 was born, along with the book of the same name. In these works, texture is no longer a technique — it is a language.
